The Guardians Deity Of Our Village / 2019

In the present era, one cannot expect the quaint sentiment associated with the word 'village.'

Shin Danbi and Lee Seok assert that it is not that the meaning has disappeared but rather has been passed on. In an age transcending both offline and online realms, we perceive our existence through relationships and networks within the online space. The artist looked at this as a 'village.'

However, this 'village' is not secure. It overflows with numerous conflicting thoughts, filled with texts of anger and wounds.

To protect and wish well for friends, family, and loved ones existing in that world, the artist created a 'guardian deity'—a protector. Wishing that no one would be harmed, they extend hopes for love, peace, and happiness. Thus, the <Guardian Deity of Our Village> is established.
